Patient Reported Measures
Enhancing Care Through
Patient Insights
At Aster DM Healthcare, we are committed to enhancing the quality of care through the use of Patient-Reported Measures. These measures offer valuable insights into both patient experiences and health outcomes, enabling us to continuously improve the services we provide.
A Comprehensive Approach
Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs) provide valuable insights into the patient’s view of their care journey, while Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) focus on evaluating the health status and outcomes that matter most to our patients. Together, these tools are integral to enhancing patient care and supporting informed clinical decision-making.

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are standardized, validated questionnaires that patients complete to measure their perceptions of their own functional well-being and health status following their treatment.
The implementation of PROMs represents a significant advancement in healthcare delivery, offering benefits across multiple domains. By providing structured data, PROMs enable more effective, efficient, and patient-centred care while supporting quality improvement and research efforts.

We use various tools for PROM which gives us valuable insight into the patient’s subjective experience of their health, which can inform treatment decisions and improve patient satisfaction. For Example - Our monitoring of the Post lower (uterine) segment caesarean section Recovery PROM Tool helps us in understanding the pain level , feeling of nausea, shivering, mobility, breast feeding of the patient after 24 hrs of the operation. This helps our Drs to take necessary actions and take preventive measures in the treatment plan.
We have also utilized patient - reported outcome measures (PROMs) to gather feedback from patients who have undergone procedures such as angioplasty, lower segment caesarean section (LSCS), hemorrhoidectomy, urethroscopy, arthroplasty, and knee replacement.
Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs)

Patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) are questionnaires measuring the patients’ perceptions of their experience whilst receiving care. They indicate the quality of patient care received by a patient, although they do not measure it directly.
PREMs capture the patient’s perspective on their healthcare experience, focusing on the process of care delivery.

Advancing Patient-Centered Care

Patient & Family Advisory Committee (PFAC)
Aligning with WHO global patient safety action plan, in 2024, we have implemented a Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) at few of our flagship hospitals.
This forum brings together patients, families, caregivers, and our clinical & administrative teams to collaborate on improving healthcare services, policies, and overall patient care. This initiative is our commitment to patient-centered care and including patients and families as partners in enhancing their experience.

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS)
We adopt ERAS, a multimodal perioperative care pathway designed to achieve early recovery for patients undergoing major surgery.
ERAS represents a paradigm shift in perioperative care in two ways. First, it re-examines traditional practices, replacing them with evidence-based best practices when necessary. Second, it is comprehensive in its scope, covering all areas of the patient’s journey through the surgical process.
The central elements of the ERAS pathway address these key factors, helping to clarify how they interact to affect patient recovery. In addition, the ERAS pathway provides guidance to all involved in perioperative care, helping them to work as a well-coordinated team to provide the best care.

Chronic disease management
Medcare’s Chronic Care Management Programme is designed to help patients manage their chronic conditions and lead healthier lives. This complimentary program consists of 11 structured sessions over the course of a year, with a dedicated case manager serving as the primary point of contact. After an initial session and personalized plan, patients receive monthly lifestyle coaching calls, which include setting achievable wellness targets and answering any questions.
The program offers comprehensive support that includes medical management through consultations with treating physicians and necessary specialist referrals, with the case manager assisting in appointment scheduling and reminders. Patients benefit from a 30% discount on care services, such as lab work, nurse visits, physiotherapy, and doctor visits.
Additionally, an easy-to-use app helps patients track progress, while educational coaching, target-setting, and supportive materials enhance understanding of their condition. Wellbeing management is supported through discounted options for healthy meal plans, personal trainers, gym or yoga sessions, and includes a complimentary consultation with a psychologist and nutritionist to promote holistic wellness.
